Purchase advice for drone to map forest

@Noceur , I (like PHZ) have mapped with the M2Pro and thats why I have 2 of them. To give you a sample, here is a screenshot of 352 acres (>2,000 images from 400 ft altitude) and a zoomed in screenshot of the area circled in yellow. You can see a lot of detail even from 400 ft (122m) altitude.

Mavic 2 Zoom is now RID compliant

Open the Wifi section of the device that you have connected to your controller OR even a different iOS device. Thats where you will see the RID info .... no app involved. The Drone Scanner app is useless on iOS devices.

Mavic 2 Zoom is now RID compliant

iOS definitely has problems using the Wifi broadcast of RID info. If you are using an iOS device, you can go to the Wifi section of the Settings. Turn on Wifi on the iOS device and see your RID S/N pop up as an available network. That's proof enough for me that my drones are broadcasting.

Automation app for Mavic Mini Pro 4?

As far as I know, DJI hasnt released a SDK for the Mini 4 Pro yet. If their past practices still hold, they are leaning toward Android SDK support only.

    My first stupid question.

If you are asking about RID and being able to see that Wifi broadcast, the Mini 4 Pro is compliant and you should be able to see it, but not connect to it like @msinger said. If I am speaking way off base, I apologize for misunderstanding the question (not a stupid one, by the way).

Remote ID for Mavic 2 Pro

Hooray for you @snowman747 !! Great to hear.

Remote ID for Mavic 2 Pro

Letters should be CAPS, like you did. Mavic 2 Pro is fine to enter for the model. Did you make sure to put a 'zero' at the end, not the letter O? That has messed up quite a few people. 1581F + your SN + '0' giving the 20 character total.

Remote ID for Mavic 2 Pro

The updated information for the M 2 Pro is on the FAA website with the whole range of serial numbers. Here is a screenshot.

Remote ID for Mavic 2 Pro

The FAA UAS Declaration of Compliance has been updated! It now lists the full range of Serial Numbers for the Mavic 2 Pro and several others that were in question.

    RID questions

Yes, that is how its supposed to work. From my experience (checking my drones) it shows both. No. An app is needed to decipher the RID information. As close as a Wifi (or bluetooth signal) would be broadcast. I have only seen Wifi being used on my drones. No. Why would you or anyone need...

Remote ID for Mavic 2 Pro

The RID Ser # starts is the concatenation of 1581F + your M2Pro SN + 0 (zero, not letter O) A total of 20 characters which can be found using the GO 4 app, and looking in the settings. Look at the link that @Vic Moss provided in post #4. Looks like this. I obviously blocked out some of the info...

Remote ID for Mavic 2 Pro

Not at all. You can still register (or renew) them as long as you put the RID Ser # from your drones. Even though the 'official' documentation still has to be updated (with the range of serial numbers), the FAA will accept your RID.

Remote ID for Mavic 2 Pro

The firmware works. FAA documentation is still not compliant because of the Serial # snafu. Here is a long thread for you to read. https://mavicpilots.com/threads/mavic-2-pro-is-now-rid-compliant.142432/

Mavic 2 Zoom is now RID compliant

I registered my M2 Zoom on the FAA DroneZone Inventory. No problem. Like KB9Radio said:
