Proper training in all full-scale aircraft includes forced landing scenarios. It also includes training in how to prevent such scenarios. Anyone who takes to the skies thinking they never need to deal with forced landings is a fool looking to become a statistic.

It has to do with the relative airspeed differences between advancing blade and retreating blade, along with Reynolds numbers. The thump is the advancing blade experiencing an increase in relative airspeed as it crosses the tail boom, moving forward. The blade "flaps" ie, flexes up at the tip...

Anyone else wondering why someone would even attempt to fly in such conditions? Especially if the task was taking photos. 🤔
