Ahhhh I think I get it.

was trying to follow my daughter running about in a field with spotlight on. Yaw and camera gimble follow her fine, and I was able to fly the drone around her. But when she did a 180 it continued to track her but wouldn't allow forward flight. I'm wondering if the "allow backwards flying"...
