    Largest cruise ship + idiot

Part 101 does not apply to UAV’s. As a part 107 pilot you cannot fly without a waiver from the FAA and approved training after civil twilight. If you are recreational than you can if you have appropriate lighting. This is stupid to me but it’s the law. You would think this rule would be...

My first flight with the Moverio BT300

I like the idea of these but have not tried them. A bit concerned that someday DJI will mandate a firmware update and Epson won’t support it anymore leaving you out a lot of money. Haven’t had time to do much research though. DSAR operations would be a great use for these though. Surprised DJI...

    Part 107 exam

I was going to pay for an online class until I found Tony Northrup’s video. Check it out and then decide if you need to spend the money. Between this and studying the FAA free study guide the test was easy. Save your $250 and put it towards your drone. Link to video here

    Logs & Checklists

Just curious what people are using for flight logs and checklists as required by FAA under Part 107? Looking for some ideas - hopefully all electronic within an app like Kittyhawk or Litchi - although Kittyhawk apparently took away the ability to import checklists. Thanks

Just passed my Part 107 test. Here are my thoughts.

Watch Tony Northrup’s video on YouTube- well worth it. Still review the FAA study guide as I found Tony didn’t cover some things. Seems like the majority concur that there are a lot of questions related to sectional maps. I would also make sure you can easily understand and read the METAR’s and...

    Buffalo/Niagara, NY, Area DJI Groups?

Another Buffalo guy here. Saw this is an old post but thought I’d try to bring it back to life. Just got my 107 license. Would be great to meet up with some other locals especially now that the weather is changing.

    Registration Numbers

I just relabeled today since I now am flying under 107 so had to re-register with FAA. Now my MP1 is registered itself with a new ID #. Sticker on inside of one front arm, one on the aft and on end of each of my three batteries.

    [HELP] Mavic Pro Firmware

Are you flying MP1 or MP2? Mine showed an update the other day but after allowing it to update it was still on the same version. The update appears to be targeted at the MP2. I was on version 01.04.0400 and it tried updating to 01.04.0500. No longer get the message and all is good. Thinking...

Just passed my Part 107 test. Here are my thoughts.

Congrats. I took mine last weekend and scored 93%. Lot of sectional chart questions. I hope to get into using it for several different ventures including 3D mapping, photography, etc.

    [HELP] Mavic Pro Firmware

I would recommend keeping your firmware up to date. As a 107 pilot I believe you have to but someone correct me if I am mis interpreting the regs.

    Registration Numbers

I should have mentioned that. Yes put your name and # on the sticker.

Mavic compass needs to be calibrated before each flight

Just had to recalibrate mine yesterday. Got a magnetic interference warning just before take off so I move it to a different location about 15 feet away. Warning went away but I checked compass and it indicated to recalibrate it. No biggie.
