    Mini 2 2021 Retrospective

This is a very well done video. Now you put me under pressure to get something similar for our family ... peer pressure at the retirement age!

Possible negative effect of raised lettering on props

You may be surprised: Quite a few engineers are smarter than others! Raised letters on an airfoil serve only one purpose: labeling. If one wants to intentionally create turbulence, commons sense would recommend to use special devices, not random letters.

    Propeller Airfoil Shape

One can make the leading edge as sharp as possible: even for viscous type flow one will always get a stagnation point. However, the sharper the edge is the more critical is its location and may cause unwanted split of the air above and below the foil. With a rounder edge the separation point...

First days with Mavic Air 2...

Hood for the phone: It is not the sunlight hitting the screen, which is annoying. It is your well-lit face that shows up as refelction on the screen which is the problem - a hood doesn't help. Been there, done that, ...

Traveling to Europe (Germany, Croatia) with my Mavic Air 2 (Tips wanted)

If you want to enjoy Germany - leave your drone at home. I lived there for 33 years, trust me. However, if you like a challenge with administration, rules, people, and locations - go ahead and report back to us upon your return.

ND filter for both photo and video ? Or no ND filter at all

I have done a simple comparison of photo and video with a Mavic Air 2 on a sunny day in the Pacific Northwest using both no filter and then a 4ND/PL filter. My observations are as follows: Photo: PL filter causes better definition, ND longer exposure times, and less contrast. Video: the same...

ND filter for both photo and video ? Or no ND filter at all

You might be right. I'll do some comparative testing in the next few days to see which gives me more pleasant images, with or without ND/PL filter. I just need to remember to be more careful (no touching) in handling the camera and gimbal when without a filter.

ND filter for both photo and video ? Or no ND filter at all

I usually do not use any filters when taking photos with a camera. However, having the camera attached to the drone, accidental damage is more likely than with a handheld camera. A filter - any filter ND or polarizing or clear - may be good for protecting the lens. I got a combination ND4/PL...

Newbie looking to buy 1st Drone Advice- I am in Canada this week, but live in the US

Yes, the Vancouver area is rather restricted when it comes to drone flying (check Drone site selection tool - National Research Council Canada). The same is happening to the automobile traffic in the city, where added bike lanes result in narrower car lanes or elimination of the latter. While...
