Not really, look who is in charge! A somewhat educated Drama teacher... With his credentials I wouldnt let him run the corner store, yet there he is running the country...
That could be an issue since the regulations now apply to model aircraft as well. TC now lumps recreational drones and model aircraft in the same class (RPA)
Basic test passed, 20 mins... pretty much common sense for anyone with some aircraft experience...
Congratulations, you passed the Small Basic Exam taken on January 9, 2019.
A Pilot Certificate - Basic Operations (PC1900951088) has been issued to you.
Really not much change, just the cash grab to register your drone and a cost to pass the basic operator course..... Model aircraft and Drones are lumped into same category of RPA (remotely piloted aircraft). I guess that means that all those model aircraft operators are going to have to jump...
yes, there is a lot of info on that map but once you filter out the ones that don't apply and only look at CZ and TCA or below 700' feet it clears it up quite a bit. Also not flying within 30 meters of buildings pretty much rules out any urban flying anyways..
I have heard the rules are being loosened up a bit, haven't had a chance to watch video at work tho :(
Canada's drone laws could be relaxed in near future
Canada, 500 meters (1500feet) horizontally and 90 meters vertically from operator... trust me at those ranges I cannot "see" the Mavic, but legally it is still within VLOS for someone with very good eyes or someone who does not take their eyes of it during flight....:)
