Can't answer your question, but I was doing some research on running the Dji apps on a SBC and the Odroid N2 seems to have everything to do it. Don't have one here, so can't confirm.

how about the wireless charger (if your phone supports)? There are low profile pcb ones for sale. Connected to a powerbank, of course.

Justinswidebody, have you tried equalizing cell voltages, prior to hotswap? There might be some trigger, for the "unexpected" voltage changes.
