Your privacy concerns are exaggerated.
Leaving the flight records on the controller won't compromise your privacy.
There is no periodic servicing needed, so you'd only be sending your drone in for crash repair.
The service techs wouldn't care...
The short answer: DJI is treating the MA2 like "end of support/end of life". I have the same firmware versions as you, and it doesn't seem to matter which version of the DJI app is running. My biggest complaint is the occasional "fail to launch"...
