Here is an actual prototype, in Florescent orange. Not bad!
Chrome is a bit more tricky but im working on it. I will also do matte/glossy black and white versions.
Yes actually,
I've been literally sanding and smoothing out every millimeter of the Stingray.
I will also announce the colors/finishes. If you have a favorite type of finish let me know.
I should have some pics and videos in the next few days.
BDOG, great minds.... u know the rest :) I am also working on something very similar to protect the gimbal as a modular attachment, and some other accessories. I am open to sending you the STL file once i am 100% satisfied with the prototype and cover legal bases (PM me, we can brainstorm?)
I have done simulations, and live tests. The structure of the Stingray does effectively negate the force of impact. I will be focusing on recording and documenting this fact in the next phase. I am also thinking about adding an extra silicone layer to maximize the retention of force sustained...
my initial tests are very promising... the Stingray cover doesn't seem to affect the flight time by much at all.
I will continue to test this further and keep you updated with resulting metrics.
So the final product, (before other upgrades) weighs around 20grams and is structurally designed to protect important areas of the main body from an up-side-down crash, very aerodynamic... and it does look pretty sexy,
