I have both and haven't played with the mini in months. The MA2 has way better camera and the handling of wind are the biggest factors.

I believe the max service ceiling is 3000 meters (approx 9800 feet). I was thinking your 3000 feet was wrong cause i live at 4000 feet and have flown the mini without issues.

I did FAA Drone Certification Test Prep | Drone Pilot Ground School and passed the 107 with ease. You just have to spend the time but what I like was there were a lot of videos and not just reading.
