My Mavic Pro is wrapped in Wrapgrade Fluorescent Yellow. I have had no problems with it and it is definitely more visible. It has been wrapped for 2 years now and hasn't peeled. Wrapgrade makes excellent wraps imo. I plan on getting another Wrapgrade skin for my Mavic 2 Pro.

I have been using my iPad 4 Mini for a couple of years now to fly my Mavic Pro and Mavic 2 Pro with no issues whatsoever. I have seen a lot of posts from people recommending the iPad 4 Mini for flying their DJI birds. Maybe you have a defective Mini?

Hi, DJI Assistant isn't required for firmware updates. Updates should come up when you turn on the aircraft, remote and app on your ipad. Also DJI Assistant is for downloading to a PC or Mac only as you connect the aircraft via USB cable directly to the computer.

You might also consider getting a tablet holder. The Ipad mini will just fit in the holder where the phone mounts but if you get a protective "gel" case for the Ipad it won't fit and this will solve the problem.
