I don't want my exposure changing in auto exposure mode mid shot. Thus I always record video in manual exposure. The rest is academic to me.

I've been traveling all over the U.S., Europe, and Asia since 2019. I've never had a problem anywhere on any airline. Don't have lithium batteries in your checked luggage and you'll be fine.

I don't remember the process exactly I'm afraid (October of 2022). I did it once I was in Japan and it was pretty painless and it didn't require a Japanese phone# or anything. You could always try before you leave on the trip. If I recall correctly the registration is good for 5 years.
