Is the FAA reviewing and approving airspace authorization requests and Part 107 waivers during government shutdown?

I received word this morning, FAA granted/approved my COA for flying in Class D airspace. It took approx. 10 days.

How much detail did you put into your request? For location, plan of operations, in accordance to, etc. Have you gotten other AA's approved previously or is this your first one?

Commercially Flying VS Recreational Flying———Can a Single Pilot Engage in Both?

Oh I see, thanks so much for the clarification.

Commercially Flying VS Recreational Flying———Can a Single Pilot Engage in Both?

I'll pass this my attorney buddy, he's a part 61 pilot and RP 107. I would be willing to bet this rule is outdated due to part 107 is more current. But I'll ask. In the survey world we adhere and exceed to FAA regulations so we can get more access/approval. So regardless to the argument you are...

Commercially Flying VS Recreational Flying———Can a Single Pilot Engage in Both?

Interesting. I don't know anything about 101 (balloons, rockets). I know there is some UAS accepted in there, but whatever. I fly for remote sensing---surveying, mapping with thermal, LiDAR and photogrammetry. So 400 AGL is way too high for our needs anyhow.

Commercially Flying VS Recreational Flying———Can a Single Pilot Engage in Both?

True, but the 5-mil rule warrants not only airports, but heliports, etc. (anything with a landing pad). So this would constitute hospitals, fire stations, police hq, etc. If you were flying in the city limits, you'd be looking at an enormous task. Most of the model aircraft enthusiasts I know...

Commercially Flying VS Recreational Flying———Can a Single Pilot Engage in Both?

The only way she could fly above 400 AGL is with a waiver/airspace authorization. Regardless to flying as part 107, 333, other. That's the law and limit (unless flying for inspection of a structure---but I would still file for NOTAM and contact ATC in that case). The question of commercial or...

    Part 107 sUAS initial Certification

I took that initial when it first came out in Sept '16. That was specifically designed for part 61 pilots (manned aircraft) who wanted to add 107, for commercial drone use. The part 61 guys kinda get grandfathered in. To become a certified part 107 RP (without any other license/cert held), you...

    Hello from Gulf South...

50 miles southwest of New Orleans...there is land!! (Kinda swampy though) Part 107 commercial pilot since inception of 107 (almost 2.5 years). Day job is in remote sensing, we fly fixed wing and rotorcraft for thermal, LiDAR, photogrammetery. We also do underwater survey (bathymetry, multibeam...

    Who Regularly Checks NOTAMS?

It would be nice if Airmap and others included NOTAMs into their search parameters (as they do with TFRs). I always check Skyvector for NOTAMs, as here in our area, many surveying firms (like I work for) file them for ongoing UAS work. So it's nice to see what's going on and what areas were...

Is the FAA reviewing and approving airspace authorization requests and Part 107 waivers during government shutdown?

I submitted a site approval for bridge inspection for this weekend (nothing heard back yet). I wondered the same thing on the gov't shutdown, yet I also have heard of others getting COA renewals in a matter of days. In attempt to aid future work, in addition to my site specific, I filed a...
