This is the latest news out of New York City Concerning the Flying of Drones…

As Ben Franklin said, ""Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, are making a wise compromise." Sure, it's obvious that the NYPD is attempting an end run around the FAA that we all agree is the authority empowered by the people to regulate air space. Of...

Mavic 3 vs Mini 4 Pro image comparison

Pilot Institute usually does a nice side-by-side comparison. The Air3, Mini 3 Pro and Mini 4 Pro all have the sensor. As said the Mavic 4/3 is larger so catches more light. I would expect the Mavic 3 to be much better in low light. Good luck!

Mini 3 Pro had lossless digital zoom in video. Mini 4 Pro doesn't seem to have this?

Do you know of any DJI documentation on that? Or gotten good results? I also had thought the Mini 3 Pro has lossless zoom but any time I have used it turns out like this hot mess: I haven't used it much since the results were so poor.

Air 2 Here’s Hanbury Hall pano

Did you mean my link? (not an attachment, a *link* to Google photos.) It's 2024; if MavicPilots can't support a good quality photo then use a different tool. One is Google Photos and linking to it. Linking also avoids loading large photo files every time someone loads the forum page. If you...

Air 2 Here’s Hanbury Hall pano

You might consider posting on Google Photos. It allows for full resolution and automatically maintains the 360 projection. The 360 projection is controlled by a button in the upper right corner. For example: https://photos.app.goo.gl/wQcM6YQGCchYtVQM9

Best models for close proximity flying for details of buildings (inside and out)

Highly recommend trying out the free Pix4d Capture. You may discover how much easier it is if automated. This supports both the Mavic 2 Pro you already own and the Mini 3 Pro, although the Mini 3 Pro has some limits. At least on my Parrot Anafi, it was super simple and very effective...

DJI Mini 3 Pro bundle at Costco - $699

That's an interesting app. I have no practical use case but could imagine on a boat using a drone to pick out a spot to anchor. Many times, in calm weather you can see through the water surface to the bottom and get more detail than a chart shows. Or picking a location to camp or picnic while...

NP. The Mini 3 may be a good deal for some.

    Viewing DJI panoramas with Oculus?

I use Pigasaurus and like it. It also reads files on local network fileservers readily

    What Would You Do?

Why would everyone agree? The National Park Service specifically states it *is* a thing. In the introduction to Policy Memorandum 14-05, it's the first thing they mention: "In some cases, their use has resulted in noise and nuisance complaints from park visitors, park visitor safety concerns...

    What Would You Do?

Well, that's a surprise. The 2014 Policy Memorandum 14-05 said "prohibit the launching, landing, or operation of unmanned aircraft," which has been modified to "applies to the launching, landing, and operation of unmanned aircraft on lands and waters administered by the NPS" which is more...

Going "pro" - which model, that has 4k/60fps that can be adapted for 80% over use best?

I would pass on the Air 2s if you want specifically 4k 60FPS. In that mode, it crops down from the 5k sensor meaning you don't get the full benefits of a 1" sensor and you will get a reduced FOV. Most Youtube tests put the flight time at <25 minutes even in favorable conditions; often <22...

Best models for close proximity flying for details of buildings (inside and out)

Anything with autonomous waypoint flight plans and a good camera. Mini 4 Pro is obvious choice if on a budget. If you are maintaining VLOS (and you should be close to a building) then protruding obstacles should be a non-issue. I like Pix4D Capture for flight planning. Its free and worth trying...

    What Would You Do?

Doesn't matter. It's a controlled airspace not a property owner stating you cannot launch from their land. Also, of course “Willfully approaching within 50 yards (150 feet), or any distance that disturbs or displaces bear or elk is prohibited. In addition, feeding, touching, teasing...
