Amen. A $25 toy drone is a wonderful flight trainer for developing the basic muscle memory on the controls. It's also good for rainy day indoor flying. -

I believe you have learned a valuable lesson here. Avoid New Pilot errors by 1. flying in an open space without obstacles 2. Never turn off obstacle avoidance Your drone looks fine based on the photos. You got lucky this time. I would follow all... -

Regarding your "Advice Needed!" request, Leave the obstacle avoidance features in operation. Never rely on the obstacle avoidance features to keep you out of trouble. Don't fly near objects, at least until you have several dozen hours of flight...
