Did you try a new set of props? That's pretty much the only thing I saw that wasn't mentioned. However, I do experience this same issue at times but usually due to wind.

Definitely remove the guard when powering on the drone. I always just find it easier to pop the MicroSD into my laptop so I don't have to fuss with cords, turn on the mavic, or let alone even have a battery in it.

What's the best place to monitor firmware update feedback - these forums? DJI's? Any other site?

If i'm flying in my neighborhood I don't fly low enough to bother anyone. I usually try to stay above 200-300ft to minimize noise. All these updated firmware experiences from hell make me want to stay on .400 for the foreseeable future.

I may not calibrate every time (actually, only when the app requests it), but I do make sure when I take off everything is in the green and most importantly my home point is accurately set. Don't want to jynx but have yet to experience any fly away scenarios.

Wouldn't RTH have kicked in anyway? I know the feeling though, I'd rather RTH while having an established connection and video feed than RTH blindly and hope the bird comes back.
