I somehow missed that the MA was wifi only. Bummer. But I can still see the usefulness of this drone as a supplement to my MP. Not sure if I'll buy one or not but I think they've given us some compelling options.

Someone wake me up when any of this matters. You can talk till you're blue in the face about all these horrible things but until it matters no one will care. And frankly, I'd be willing to bet a large sum of money that it will NEVER matter in any material way to 99.99% of people.

I'm not a doomsday guy by a long shot but helicopters scare the bejeezus out of me. I so often see them flying around at very low heights. Any time I hear one in the area I stop flying and immediately look for the helicopter - especially if I'm at any distance from my takeoff location.

I agree. While it's certainly not economical, I just bought a brand new second controller and sent it to UAVMaxx for them to modify for me. Now I've got a normal stock controller and a modified controller that I can use depending on what I'm doing.

Agree. I've found the pause button to be the most effective way to stop it from doing any sort of autonomous flying.

The spec range is based on absolutely perfect conditions so don't count on that range.

I think what I would tell you is to think about the Mavic as a device that really needs to fly above tree level in order to travel any sort of distance and still maintain a connection with the controller. If you have thoughts of flying it out to the edge of your property (some 4,000 feet out)...
