    Launch from a moving ship?

Not sure.. In the air it would be better indeed (just an assumption).. But landing, not sure.. At least in my situation i have to land between cargo. Which is not hard when the vessel is not moving but.. Even with the wind at an equal speed and direction of the vessel, when landing, the drone...

    Launch from a moving ship?

Wind was ideal, 2 to 3 knots only.. It was the speed of the vessel for the most which made it hard. Ofc headwind due to the motion of the vessel occurs tho, but i was not able to shelter from that

    Launch from a moving ship?

Soo.. Succes-ish! Last Saturday i launched my Mavic Pro from a moving vessel and went okay. I applied my propguards but somehow it took off and within a few centimeters dropt back on deck again with these on. Couldn't find anything strange so tried again, same thing. Took them off and launched...

    Launch from a moving ship?

Yeah on board this container ship we sail about 15kts on average and if we have the current with is and no swell it can do 18kts. So far the weather or cargo did not allow me to take of. Like i said before also consider the wind speed. In de last few days we had head winds and side winds but i...

    Launch from a moving ship?

@Spy_Corfu you are probably right about this magmatic interference. I hope i can test it soon when conditions allow it. Taking of should not be a problem IF there is room on deck (no cargo) then I have 60x16meters of landing strip haha.. To all: i hope i can soon try to take off from a moving...

    Launch from a moving ship?

Aha... Sorry misunderstood you. But no compass in the world tells you where north is [emoji14] Magmatic compass is pointing to magmatic north, which isn't north and there are two errors named Variation an Deviation, if you add them to the bearing the compass is telling you than this is north...

    Launch from a moving ship?

I'm not sure what you mean..? Sure there are at least two compasses on the bridge (Magmatic and Gyro most of the time) this info could someone standing on the bridge tell you by radio if you need it.. But what good is that info since you can't just tell the mavic what it's heading is.. [emoji14]

    Launch from a moving ship?

Since is a seagoing container vessel it's steel all the way.. What will be the issue's of flying with a (big) compass error? Heading and RTH (partly) make use of the compass.. But if you fly in a way you can always see the drone it doesn't matter if it's heading is off since you can fly it...

    Launch from a moving ship?

I also want to do this but with the OG Mavic Pro.. We sail mostly during nighttime so to pick a good day with proper daylight, good weather conditions i.e. clear skies, not to much wind is tricky but doable. I've read before you should always consider your speed and windspeed relative to the...
