Cessna almost hit my drone yesterday

No, the Cessna has to maintain altitute at least 500' AGL. "An aircraft must maintain an altitude of 500 feet above the surface, except over open water or sparsely populated areas. In those cases, the aircraft may not be operated closer than 500 feet to any person, vessel, vehicle, or structure. "

Mavic Pro 2 or wait for the Mavic Pro 3?

Here's one thought, would could get a cheap drone to begin learning how everything works and at the same time study and get your part 107. Then, in January you can re-evaluate the situation and you'll be much further ahead of the game. BTW - I already have my MP2 and love it!

Advice on buying damaged Mavic 2 Pro

I'd have it sent to DJI for review and repair estimates. You might offer to split the shipping cost (you and the seller each paying for 1 way of travel) and base your decision on the what it actually needs in the way of repairs

    FAA registration

No, but when I pass it down to my son he can always place a sticker over the engraved part and you wouldn't see it anyway.

The screen protector is nice but have not added it on the controller yet. The capsule holding the...

My wife made me buy it....

Not really, although a guy can dream, can't he? Honestly, I'm new to the Mavic 2 Pro (I have had small and much less expensive drones) over the years. This is going to be an exciting time for me as I get serious about piloting and learning. I am semi-retired now and am looking to improve my...

Biggiest cons of the smart controller?

Only con for me (being a new user to the Mavic 2 Pro) is that it does not come with a lanyard. After a while of holding it, it gets a bit warm (not hot) and my hands begin to sweat. I'd like to wipe my hands and not fear dropping the controller because it slipped.
