    Flying Etiquette

This argument is flawed from the start: "A. Any person who knowingly and intentionally causes an unmanned aircraft system to (i) enter the property of another". I'm unaware of any private property owner who has rights to the airspace above said property. (Of course, flying into someone's back...

Crash - Pilot error or drone issue?

I, too, consult the web version before I head out. I like that I can click on the time of day to see how the winds are forecasted to change. So far I haven't seen any reason to purchase the app. (even though the price is reasonable) I can do without the 3D globe view the app supplies.

Divorce is inevitable, MM and me

I believe this is what you're referring to: Radio control multirotors[edit] Multirotors (also known as drones) are subject to normal rotorcraft aerodynamics, including vortex ring state. Frame design, size and power affect the likelihood of entering the state and recovering from it. Multirotors...

Crash - Pilot error or drone issue?

@MavicDelight I prefer Ventusky over Windy. Windy's screen is a bit too cluttered for me. With Ventusky, I can check the winds at a variety of altitudes in just a couple of clicks. Whichever you choose, the point is you need to rely on a product other than UAV Forecast.

    Litchi App

What is the purpose of this app? Is this the program that converts Litchi files to be used with the Parrot?

    Line of Sight - Really?

I truly mean no offense, but if you lived here you'd know exactly what I mean. You can read the comments posted on this video to get a feel for how this is being received.

    Line of Sight - Really?

As a country, we don't like the idea of a national database on our activities.

    Line of Sight - Really?

Look, let me see if I can make my point crystal clear here. (pun intended) I spent 6 years as an air traffic controller in the military. It was my job to keep pilots safe and I don't need to be lectured on what's at stake or the need for reasonable regulations. However, there is NO data that...

    Line of Sight - Really?

I'm well aware of what the LOS issue is about. 1) There isn't enough data to support the FAA's proposal or the exaggerated claim that drones are dangerous to others. The numbers I used were an effort to answer a question put to me in an earlier comment. As you can tell, they were purely...

    Line of Sight - Really?

Ok, so let's assume 1.5 million drones are flown an average of twice per week--a very conservative number. That's 12 million flights per month. If 1% of those (120,000) endangered an aircraft, or wandered into an airport, then I'd say that's a major cause for concern and I could better...

    Line of Sight - Really?

No, I'm really NOT a conspiracy theorist! I'm just being observant. :D Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see a zero probability rate, but we all know that's unrealistic. Without adequate data, there's no way for any of us to know what's behind the proposed rules. But the changes the FAA wants just...

    Line of Sight - Really?

It is convenient to blame the new laws the FAA has in mind on those not flying by the current rules. But how much truth is really behind that statement? Is the prime motivation behind the FAA's proposal really due to the actions of a few bad actors? I don't think so. The latest numbers I've seen...

    Line of Sight - Really?

I'm not trying to open yet another can of worms here, but... Here we are in an uproar over flying a drone, weighing 2-3 pounds or less, BVLOS in a time where autonomous vehicles weighing tons are being allowed on our roads today. I've lost track of the number of times I've seen cars marked as...
