    Another drone shot down

Your examples are specious and extreme. This thread was started by asking whether it should be legal to shoot down a drone. The answer should be an unmitigated NO, and in most cases, it is illegal to do so. There is nothing illegal about flying near a hunter, over a private beach, or a golf...

Drone Pilot Pleads Guilty to Crashing into Super Scooper.

I do not believe there was any malicious intent on Akemann's part, and I don't know what saved him. His standing and deep pockets may have held some sway. Short of imprisonment, which, I believe, is a punishment the FAA cannot levy, I wonder what might have happened to a reckless hobbyist...

Drone Pilot Pleads Guilty to Crashing into Super Scooper.

One thing not mentioned here is the absence of RID isn't going to save you. Any flyer can be found if the event is sufficiently egregious. Additionally, the drone did not fly into the plane. Gotta love the media for that phrasing. I'm not buying the premise that Akeman was ignorant of the rules...

How do you deal with angry people who hate drones while you're flying?

Unless it's law enforcement, I don't owe anyone an explanation, and they won't get one. I'm not required to answer their questions or justify my actions. I am a very reasonable person, but I don't have to be. If someone approaches me the wrong way, they get what they deserve. I won't tolerate...

DJI Mini Pro 3 vs 4 for waypoints

I’m not particularly fond of DJI’s implementation of the waypoints feature. One big drawback is that its maps do not contain elevation data, so the recommended method is to fly the route first and create your waypoints while in the air. I am used to using Litchi, which considers elevation data...

    Airspace confusion

That's what I thought, too. Thanks.

    Airspace confusion

Attached are four screenshots from four different sources regarding the same location. A FRIA (RC Plane Field) is located near Lake Mead in Nevada, not far from Hoover Dam. (Flying near the dam is strictly prohibited.) Notice the color of the airspace around the FRIA. The screenshots from...

    Is this even legal, DJI?

Haven't you asked for a refund on something and been told it would take 3-5 business days before you see it on your debit/credit card? This is common practice just about everywhere. One thing I like about Amazon is they only charge your card once the item is ready to be shipped. As already...

    The DJI Protection Plan

    Yes. That's what I did.

    The DJI Protection Plan

I don't recall being asked what I use my drones for. I fly recreationally anyway, so it doesn't matter. State Farm isn't going to know one way or another unless you tell them. I recall having to bring the drone, its box, and my receipt and that was it.

    The DJI Protection Plan

I purchased my Mavi 2 Pro not long after that and I was able to get it insured, too. It was a new policy, of course.

    The DJI Protection Plan

About 7 years ago, my Phantom 3 flew away into a wooded area near some mountains and I could not locate it. Fortunately, I had it insured for its full value through State Farm insurance company. State Farm does NOT insure drones in EVERY state, but they do here in Nevada. I processed a claim and...

130W laptop charger with the Air 3s

Your best bet is to buy a power bank. I prefer the ones by Anker, but there are others. Follow this link to see the one I use. I caught it on sale during Black Friday. https://tinyurl.com/5ayfn5mt

    Flying Etiquette

This argument is flawed from the start: "A. Any person who knowingly and intentionally causes an unmanned aircraft system to (i) enter the property of another". I'm unaware of any private property owner who has rights to the airspace above said property. (Of course, flying into someone's back...
