If your stills are OK there's nothing wrong with the sensor so sending it back is a waste of time. Hopefully a future firmware update will improve it. In the meantime don't turn down the sharpening or contrast. It's the compression/noise reduction process.

Mike_in_Letcombe those are fine, no sign of the watercolor issue there. They just need some post processing to sort contrast etc but the issue doesn't usually affect photos anyway.
Wow. So it's unlikely to be the ND filter but you need to test changing one thing at a time to narrow it down. Can you do another without ND filter, won't matter if it's a bit overexposed, and then one with 1/400 and Cinelike? I use Cinelike too, am wondering if thats where the problem lies.
Here's pics of the issue, one is a photo and one is a still from the video, pretty obvious which is which! Taken in the same flight. Ignore the whacky colours, I didn't bother to match them. The issue is more on the foreground in this instance, must have focussed on the hills.
Mine affects the video only, stills are fine. I just did a test changing sharpness settings but couldn't recreate the problem, therefore sharpness -1 was fine, and sharpness 0 introduced crunchy and moire. Will keep trying. Because the photos are fine I'm assuming it's a software issue rather...
