Does Mavic Shoot Video or Watercolor Paintings? Don’t settle. Get Involved!

I'm sure it's how you're saying things not what you're saying. There is no need to be rude, just keep politely at them. There are signs they're working on it. Being confrontational won't help get anything done, it just alienates the people you need to help you. Ken said he'd passed it on to R&D...

If your stills are OK there's nothing wrong with the sensor so sending it back is a waste of time. Hopefully a future firmware update will improve it. In the meantime don't turn down the sharpening or contrast. It's the compression/noise reduction process. Sent from my iPhone using MavicPilots

I assume it would - its the fact that it resets the camera is key it seems. Sent from my iPhone using MavicPilots

Unfair - DJI told me to reset via DJI Assistant but I couldn't be bothered - hardly their problem.

I disagree, not blurry, just lacking contrast.

Mike_in_Letcombe those are fine, no sign of the watercolor issue there. They just need some post processing to sort contrast etc but the issue doesn't usually affect photos anyway.

I get crunchiness even at 0 but I think I will try it and soften in post. Sent from my iPhone using MavicPilots

Yes. Look at the tree trunk - the water color effect shows there mostly. Compare top left to bottom left. Sent from my iPhone using MavicPilots

Wow. So it's unlikely to be the ND filter but you need to test changing one thing at a time to narrow it down. Can you do another without ND filter, won't matter if it's a bit overexposed, and then one with 1/400 and Cinelike? I use Cinelike too, am wondering if thats where the problem lies.

OK that pretty much confirms it's a compression/software issue then - glad you've got your stills sorted.

Can you post a photo? What settings are you using?

Here's pics of the issue, one is a photo and one is a still from the video, pretty obvious which is which! Taken in the same flight. Ignore the whacky colours, I didn't bother to match them. The issue is more on the foreground in this instance, must have focussed on the hills.

Mine affects the video only, stills are fine. I just did a test changing sharpness settings but couldn't recreate the problem, therefore sharpness -1 was fine, and sharpness 0 introduced crunchy and moire. Will keep trying. Because the photos are fine I'm assuming it's a software issue rather...

I wondered if it was sharpness setting that was the issue - I have noticed it when background out of focus, as in the pic below which is a still grabbed off a video where focus was on rocks in foreground. My photos are fine, and I've had video since this day which is mostly fine also. Will test...
