Things look pretty small from even 400' altitude. If the client wants a Google earth style view of a large area, usually, I just fly a pattern and make a photomosiac - no need to exceed 400'. That way, you also have much higher resolution than a still photo from 1000+ feet.

That's good advice, especially at night when the drone can get confused. But there's still an issue if you lose contact with the drone for any reason and it tries to RTH on its own, then the OP could be in for a world of hurt while it "hunts" for a way home by rising ever higher in the sky since...

I was able to get a better idea of what was required (here in Canada anyway) by checking on the requirements for a flight review from the Flight Reviewers requirements. That made it much more clear than trying to decipher the requirements from various anecdotal reports.

That was the take from the pilots who commented on that story. That at 600 mph, by the time they seem them, it's already too late. I wonder if they should be equipped with ADS-B like planes so they can be identified and located in the air. It's a simple and pretty small bit of equipment these days.

OEM batteries are like $95 on Azon in Canada here - so actually - very reasonably priced. The batteries for my Matrice M30 cost $500 each and I need 2 to fly. I bought a plus battery for my Mini 4 Pro for the extended flight time. It's so convenient that I hardly ever use the smaller batteries...

If I power up the drone first, then the controller, it loads it automatically. If I power the controller first, then the window pops up with the different possible drones you can run with it and you choose which one you want to load. At least, that's how mine works.

I use my RC2 to control either my Mini 4 Pro, or my Neo. The controller asks on bootup to choose which one, and then it loads the appropriate firmware.
