Drone Licence for the European Union

Thanks for the information. Yeah I've considered purchasing a C1-compliant drone in the EU instead of the US because of the class sticker issue. DJI doesn't appear interested in making it easier for people who buy their drones outside of the EU to get the stickers. But last year, I've flown...

    Mavic 4 Rumors

Seems likely that it will have a greater MTOM than the Mavic 3 Pro.

Drone Licence for the European Union

Ah thanks, so pilot registration, passing the online test. As for as the C classification stickers, like I said DJI isn't distributing them on drones sold outside the EU. In fact you have to request the labels from their app while you're in the EU and they will only mail it to EU addresses...

Drone Licence for the European Union

What do you mean by A1/A2/A3 certificates. Are these the same as the CE labels, such as C1 or C2, with the number of the category in the middle of a wing-like symbol? https://eudroneport.com/uas-certification/ Supposedly drones must have these labels and the only way to fly A1 category is...

Drone Licence for the European Union

I'm actually going to do that for both Portugal and Greece.

Drone Licence for the European Union

DJI isn't distributing those labels, despite spending money and time to certify their drones, to regions outside the EU. So for instance, Americans have to jump through hoops to try to get those labels if they also plan to fly in Europe.

Drone Licence for the European Union

For recreational flying, you can take an online quiz and get a pilot license, good for 4 or 5 years. I studied/practiced online on the France drone site. They had the training and test in English as well as French. Not sure if that's still the case, can't load the AlphaTango site right now...

Good news on flying drones in National Parks in Thailand

Hope it works out for you. But if you are going to be in the country for 90 days, you could also have gone through the registration process yourself? I visited Thailand for a total of 12 nights or so. If I tried to register with both agencies from the time I landed, I think half my planned...

    Mavic 4 Rumors

Yeah what Apple, Google, Samsung and others do with high-end phones is take multiple shots and blend them together, not just for better HDR but also resolution. They have more powerful processors in these phones which start at $500-600 and up and sophisticated software to do all this...

    Mavic 4 Rumors

Would be surprised if they did BSI or even stacked sensors. But we'll see. The thing is Micro 4/3 sensors seem stuck at 20 Mp. Olympus just introduced a new camera the other week and it's a 20 Mp Micro 4/3 stacked sensor.

Air 3S photo quality analysis with comps M2Pro and iPhone 15Pro

So previous DJI drones with faux 40-50 Mp photos didn't have the demossaicing color artifacts? Maybe DJI needs to get Adobe a better demossaicing RAW processor. Or maybe not enough people have reported the problem to DJI. Is there some formal process to file bugs to them?

Air 3S photo quality is... disappointing

That may happen but Lightroom you just use the generic DNG processor. They don't seem to have dedicated RAW processors for the DJI cameras? For instance, my Mavic 2 Pro, which I've had for 7 years, still just puts out DNG files and of course Adobe updates its DNG processor. However, I would...

Air 3S photo quality is... disappointing

That’s the question though, did they give up on that design, optical zoom, in favor of 2 or 3 cameras because of cost and image quality reasons? Certainly it’s easier to put in 2 or 3 cameras instead of developing a bespoke zoom which would be motorized and still be light enough? Or did they...

Air 3S photo quality is... disappointing

They had it briefly on the Mavic 2 Zoom. I think most people opted for the 2 Pro because of the 1-inch sensor, which was a big deal at the time.

Air 3S photo quality is... disappointing

There's no R&D. They avoid spending on more costly sensors like stacked CMOS and other components. But they have to give people a reason to buy or upgrade to the newest drones so 50 or 100 Mp is what's meant to stand out in a spec sheet. Another big spec is flight time. The rumored battery...
