I can’t remember reading anything about hovering in my manual but I have read that my drone will take a pic of its surroundings on take off so why not give it a chance to do so. I am never so much of in a hurry to just take off and go. I always take MP2 up about 7 meters to see how it’s acting...
While you may not be concerned with it falling out of the sky either over land or water, if it does, one is going to considerably more easy to retrieve and a submerged drone will probably me more of a challenge to restore.
I prefer to fly in the wide open areas as I am also living in an HOA but when I don’t have the time or desire to get in my car and go searching, I will fly on my street to exercise my batteries and keep that muscle memory going.

I also live in that Nevada heat. I have been flying 5 batteries for over 2 years plus though not past 95 degrees and every battery is in perfect condition.

Please do report back, I am in Nevada as well not looking to fly commercially but for sure wanting a replacement should one of those unspeakable events occurs.

No landing is 100% reliable but when I do go fly I usually will test the precision landing at least once among other test to try and gage how my Mavic 2 is performing. It may not mean anything but I am happy when it lands an inch from where it took off as opposed to 3 feet away. All that gives...
While flying for the joy of it and perhaps capturing the scenery as well is by no means a hill to die on, at some point you will have to drive 50 miles away from anyone in all directions just to have this hobby…….let them know without all the documentation that you believe it’s ok to fly in the...
Keep in mind that if you do that and have not made your home point dynamic……when the battery gets low, it will return to where you started from unless you cancel it’s return.

I believe your right and perhaps hope some BVLOS is possible at some point but one thing most people will not be able to afford is the unlimited liability that Amazon and Walmart can.
