The issue is most people try to fly them where most people are rather then where noone is around. And it is disruptive. You would not be able to visit a park destination during season without drones flying around everywhere. I for the most part am put off by restrictions but i see why this one...
If you can fly this high you modded the firmware and you have sport+ mode you can downstick to the point that your props are barely idling and id drops freakishly fast compared to stock.

"I downgraded from 4.0.1 with dumldorev3 to 3.0.7 and I get "cannot take of" message.
I downgraded the RC to the same FW but that did ot help.
Any ideas?"
My guess is the internal SD card.
Where are you from?
Where I live there are mountains 1000s of feet high all around and 500m locks you in a pit alot of the time unless you do some climbing or driving up a long way.
I think there is a youtube video of a complete mavic take down that shows it.
If you are able to roll all the way back to .700 or older and still take off yours already has the sd card in it.
It will never get locked.
That is not the issue.
If you have a newer mavic it will need taken apart and an internal sd card added.
And you need then you will need to be on firmware .700 or lower

This is app to get for modding firmware to go over 500m.
You can also get all the same stuff this app offers for free but you have to do more research on how to do everything. NLD just makes everything easy.
Why not fly it in the snow sounds like it would be great footage to me?
The mavic flies great in the cold down to at least -20C.
The mavic batteries need to be kept warm before flying though.
Only issue i have on the extreme cold is that my camera fogs up for the first 5 minute or so of flight...
No, I do not think so. NFZ will be back. I think there is some firmware package mixing you can do adding some of the new features but some packages have to be left out. I would not suggest doing it unless you know for sure what you are doing. Stick with .700 for now if the MPP runs on that with...
Being that you are calling to warn them. All those questions are pertinent and important information to know if you have the responsibility of bringing aircraft in and out safely. If an accident happened involving the drone and he failed to ask for all that information i could see how that could...
I see a drone or is it a bird or a ufo? Let me take over, we are going to drive ourselves into the ground to avoid it.
And this guy is teaching people how to fly... scary.
