Newby here with another question. I'm wanting to fly in mountains. Today was around 220' altitude and started having signal issues, thankfully hot footed back safely. Reflecting on that experience, is it safer in up and down terrain to fly higher so signal has less chance of being obstructed? Thnx!

"Was your drone outdoors where the sky view was not blocked by obstacles or terrain?" Having to launch from holes in the canopy, so that explains difficulty finding enough satellites.

Thanks to all, very helpful!! I think yesterday I wasn't being patient enough. Went back to the same spot today, and after a bit it found gps. I'm flying in a national forest without cell signal most locations, going to extend my altitude and range gradually as I get experience. If I lose it...

"The phone and aircraft GPS are different entities." Thnx, that helps, just trying to understand what's going on. Yesterday I had phone GPS on Google Maps, but drone said no GPS. Still don't understand what it's not everywhere if it's coming from satellites, but I guess it is what it is.

New flyer. Trying to understand. If GPS comes from satellites, why are there places without signal? If phone has a GPS signal, why cant the mini also find it? Thanks!!
