Flying without a permit was definitely not the thing to do. They should have just went further up the coast and then tried to get a permit with the US, they might have done better.

Remember when you go before the judge he is a local. The people you're going against are his neighbors and relatives and you are the stranger. Move on.

Do what you can with whatever you have any time you can. Just keep going.
