    1080@96fps = slow motion?

    Slow motion @ 96 FPS, as well as 120FPS, is by design. This is a feature, not a bug. When recording above 60FPS, speeds are played back at a quarter of the rate they were recorded. Any new Android or iPhone will have the same features as well to select when recording from your camera.
