Can you?? Fly to 5000 feet??

I think the safety is achieved by airspace reservation (e.g. by a NOTAM). As far as I know, that is how the air control organizations treat scientific UAS flights (those that do not fit to open category) here (Finland).

    50MP 1" sensor a wise choice?

The direction where this thread is converging at somehow points to the sensor of Air 2 (I own one). Mavic Air 2 also has a 48 Mega pixel mode, but for all practical purposes, the 12 MP output is as good as the output from 48 MP (and then averaged down).

Mavic Air 2 in EU - my conclusion

That is how it seems to be. What annoys me is that they did the RID thing for the US (and there Air 2 is now a usable drone) but did not do it for the EU market (where Air 2 is now pretty close to a paper weight).

    Beware Pilots!!!

The same applies to C1 and C2 as well. I don't think DJI has specified any allowable payloads in their user manuals. Regarding the opening of this thread, I do not quite follow the logic: why should A2 (controlled classroom test in addition to the Internet test of A1/A3) be required. After C0...

Mavic Air 2 in EU - my conclusion

Mavic Air 2 is a "legacy drone" in European Union, which kind of annoys me a bit. I made a thread on the DJI forum to describe my stand on this issue (direct quote of the opening message): DJI decided to make Mavic Air 2 a compliant drone in US, Japan, China ... but not in EU. This probably...

Air 3 vs Mavic 3 Classic photo comparison

    > Specifically, do people need to spend thousands to buy new drones with the C1 labels, in order to fly A1 category flying? This is a question I am pondering every now and then. Owning a "legacy drone" without the C1 label, I am not so much worried about policemen appearing when I fly. When...

Air 3 vs Mavic 3 Classic photo comparison

    > Often police don't even know the EASA rules, never mind the new ones which came online this year. The talk about new EU rules in 2024 annoys me a bit. There has basically been just one EU rule for drones. It just included a transition period of several years (and that period got extended a...

    Setting Max Speed

I have not heard of any active enforcement in Finland. I would not publish a video that clearly shows flying close to people. So far I have only flown my Air 2 in environments that in my interpretation can be considered as A3 environments. Somebody else might have a different opinion on...

    Setting Max Speed

Regarding the speed requirements, are you sure Air 3 really needs to fly that slow ? Air 3 is a C1 drone, not C2. In my interpretation, the rules for C1 drones are a bit more liberal than those for C2. I have also an A2 "license", but that does not help much with my Air 2 ...

Strategy for EU Open Category from 2024 on

C2 label in the case of Mavic 3 Pro (my mistake). I would not talk about rule changes, just rules coming into force. DJI (on the DJI forum) is eager to talk about rule changes in EU even though the drone directives have not been cancelled or changed. The interpretations of some things may...

Strategy for EU Open Category from 2024 on

No, DJI started the retroactive C-marking with some of the Mavic 3 models. The Mavic 3 Classic was the first drone to come with the C1 label in the box, but DJI had already introduced at least "Mavic 3" and "Mavic3 Pro". I would not like to call this process certification. No DJI drone is in...

Remote ID for Mavic 2 Pro

We must keep in mind that RID is different in US and EU. For instance, Mavic Air 2 has RID in US but not in EU.

Strategy for EU Open Category from 2024 on

Air 2S is planned to get the C1 label in the coming months (retrospectively about the same way as they did with Mavic 3) according to the DJI forum. Air 2 is not included despite earlier plans or promises, unfortunately. And legacy drones cannot be flown outside the A3 airspace (150 m from...

Sorting logs by corordinates using a spread sheet and Excel, suggestions for methods of sorting wanted.

I think you need some kind of GIS (geographic Information System) approach.

    Three or Four

The SDK support may mean that normal Litchi will support Mini 3 Pro in not so far future ... The virtual stick limitation may affect video stability but for still images (e.g. for photogrammetry) Litchi works OK. And the Mission planning is not too difficult with it.
