turning off the motor

When turning on the motor we usually do this “putting the left stick to bottom left and the right stick to bottom right together” i am afraid if I accidentally do this while on air, the drone might crash!!! Is this true or not? I haven’t tested it yet since i will not sacrifice my drone for...
