first of all my fellow flyers in this great big world of ours let me wish you all a happy new year.now on with the thread,
we all know that 2018 was not the best of years for our hobby and that the wind of change is blowing through the way we will be allowed to fly in the future no matter where in the world we fly there are plans afoot to bring in tougher rules with reguards to our ability to fly our drones, i am not against rules, in fact there should be rules to allow us to share the airspace that we and commercial aircraft and military pilots inhabit. my biggest concern is the way that these rules impact on us as pilots of UAVs. we all know as recent events in the UK have shown that the media loves to jump on the bandwagon as soon as the word drone is mentioned and paint us as evil if we fly a drone. the trouble is this sort of reporting is forcing goverments to bring in heavy handed legislation to govern our hobby. it is up to us as responsible people to champion the use of drones and let our voice be heard my hope is that we will prevail, and that our hobby can continue to flourish in 2019.

Very good thread. I believe that 2019 will be more the year of the drone than any year prior. With the implementation of LAANC with DJI as an authorized supplier, the continued mass production of drones and growth of DJI, the partnering by DJI with many companies to help their growth, and the extremely low incidence rate of drone accidents and drone caused injuries and fatalities, there is every reason for drone users to be optimistic. Drones will continue to be banned in restricted areas, but I expect the enforcement of laws and fines on ignorant drone pilots who violate the law to be increased.

All in all, 2018 gave us the best drones ever created for the consumer market, and some slight competition from other companies. Prices didnt get much higher, the equipment has been made much safer and dependable, and drone flying space is still widely available for everyones fun and enjoyment. Drone insurance is easier to find, and work is plentiful for those wishing to do it for a living.

May it long continue.

You mention fatalities. How many people have died because of civilian Drones? News to me!
