I have a non-Mavic quad that could lift a GoPro type cam and want to get one for it (never owned one). Do they cause any issues (interference) with 2.4G signal even if Cam Wi-fi is turned off?

If the payload has any wifi features turn them off. If the payload is not mounted very close to the center of gravity of the Mavic, performance will suffer.

If WIFI is turned off you will have no problems with the R/C link. I do that all time on my conventional drones.
