Selling off my Air 3 and just ordered an Air 3s. Should I assume that the 3s will perform just as well at night compared to the Air 3? I know they removed "night mode" from the S and I've read that somehow low-light performance is not quite as good as the original Air 3.
I have an Air3s, so I can't directly compare it to an Air3, but the Air3s has an "auto" night mode that is "activated" when in auto exposure mode. I haven't found any indication that it is in this "auto night" mode, but the results speak for themselves.
I have experimented at night with Auto exposure vs. setting it manually and have seen no difference. Each result is excellent. The physics of the larger sensor and some of the processing tweaks contribute to better light gathering, and that is not even considering the added option of the 3x camera/lens on the 3s.
I guess I will say, you won't be disappointed or regret the night capabilities of the 3s
