Act now! The European drone community is endangered with a noise limitation for drones in the C1 and C2 classes. This means that all drones under 4kg used for operations over or close to people will be greatly affected. Join the campaign here: Letter Embed | New Mode

Slowly regulating drones out of existence. Nice

80-90dB at maximum power, with microphone right next to drone I believe. That is a very big ask. Only the smallest of drones would pass that.

They'll probably follow this up with a rule on maximum frequency emitted by a drone. That'll be the killer.

Its very funny... Or disapointing...
European commission dont have any other most important problem to solve!?
Glyphosate is a proved people/animals/flora killer and just been reaproved for many years more exploitation by european commission, and they now decide to prohibit, in a very short amount of time, too noisy drones!? WTF!?
There is a big (and getting bigger and bigger) gap between world's reality and politicals dreaming world.... No sense.... :(

Actually there isnt a shred of peer reviewed scientific evidence showing Glyphosphates are harmful to people. None at all.

Back onto drones, non drone users biggest complaint all the time is the noise of the things. People flying inconsiderately, too close and near crowds make it worse but people do hate the noise. So although i'd agree 99% of the EU commission are utterly removed from real people in the real world, this time they might actually be doing something useful for "most" people.
(They'll then ignore all expert advice and implement something ludicrous though as is normal).

Half of them, in EU Commission, never saw a drone, and they probably don't know what a drone is.

Then we should be able to fly higher to avoid them hearing the drones. I can only hear mine when its within 100 feet or so.

I already experienced some crazy people about the drone noise problem...
But all the time, it was the same: the guys or women just come on me and ask if that flying drone is mine (no, I have a RC in my hands, and I'm looking for something in the sky , just for fun...) so I told them that YES, I'm flying a drone... At this point, they litteraly injure me saying "that they came at this place to enjoy silence and nature , that it's incredible to see drones over here, that I certainly not have any rights to fly in the area, and I should just go away... .... ...." while they are screaming on me I make my mavic Come back, land and switch it off, and then I gently tell them that now, all people around (or animals) just only hear them screaming on me, and that it very much noisy than my mavic 200ft away....
Generaly, they look at me with anger , and just shut up and go away....

BUT I also found a good way to make people understand what drones are all about , and involve them , by asking to people present in the area I'll fly , if I can fly my drone around, and if it'll not disturb them, saying that it's a little bit loudy and that I'm.sorry about that... Most of time, they just tell me that it's OK , and Come to me when I take off the drone to see how does the place looks like from above. Then a conversation grows up about drones, generaly people are interrested about it. And most of time, they give me their email adress and ask me to send them the video.
I think the noise is not necessary a problem, the big problem is that most drone owners just fly anywhere anyhow ... So I can understand people who are scaryed about drones...
But , to compare, a drone at 100ft is less noisy than an tourism airplane at 1mile, or than an helicopter 2 miles away... Or than a liner 20000ft above pour heads... Many things that may disturb people , but they don't care about that , maybe because airplanes are in the air since a century now, and people know they dont have to worry about now, knowing it's "danger-free"..
Here is my point of view, and I think there is no need to make drone noise a big deal... Exept, maybe, for some applications, where you need a silent flight...

You can easily hear a mavic on a still night 300-400m away.
Flying higher than 400ft dramatically increases the risk of a collision so thats a non starter.

How a product like glyphosate, which need wearing a spacesuit to use it ans speead it can be not armful !? No sense...
You should ask you WHY it's not registered as dangerous...
But you're right, it's not really about drones... ;)

Because if you drink enough of it then it'll hurt you. Same with bleach and vodka.

There is not a shred of scientific data that actually shows its carcinogenic. None. Not a single study has shown even the slightest hint of a link. An uneducated jury in a legal case with zero qualifications isn't scientific proof.

No sense...
You should ask you WHY it's not registered as dangerous...

It is. GLYPHOSATE | CAMEO Chemicals | NOAA just like all other chemicals.

But yes, its nothing to do with drones.

I think this is the right thing. It doesnt matter whether there are other noises, as each additonal noise doesnt replace any existing ones, but adds to the level of noise. Anyone who asks me in a respectful manner to stop flying will get me to land it and stop.

BUT...I think the noise is not necessary a problem, the big problem is that most drone owners just fly anywhere anyhow ... So I can understand people who are scaryed about drones.....

Its not necessarily about drones. I think for many of us in todays society and environments its not always easy to "get away from it all". The mobile phone networks are almost everywhere, planes and cars are much increased over only 30 years back, and recreational motors (jet skies, dirt bikes, ultralights, helicopters...) are up as well. There simply is an increase in overall noise. A drone flying erratically at low'ish altitude above our heads certainly wont make things better.
