Good info, thanksWow. That phenomenon is called a murmuration. You're lucky to have seen it. Starlings do that when they're congregation in flocks for migration, just before descending to their roost for the night. (The presence of a predator can trigger them. Given the distance from the drone, it's highly unlikely that you had anything to do with it.) Did you see where they went to roost?
