In my current issue from AARP (LOL all you want :)) they recommend renting a DJI drone opposed to buying one and list a place to do so. With all of the hand wringing about bad 'pilots' this is a real problem that could cause some issues, "hey Pop, check out this gal in her camper hehe"

Edit: Thanks Meta4, I think...

BTW, I tried starting a drone rental business 2 years ago. Not much interest. Most people had already bought them and wanted me to teach them how to fly, which I was happy to do for free.

Seems risky. With car rental, you at least need to have a drivers license to show you can drive a car. Drone rental? If someone has their commercial drone license, they can afford to buy their own drone instead of renting. Renting to newbies, they'd be out of business having to replace crashed and lost drones. Plus the insurance premium would be pretty steep too.

Plenty of drone rental companies around. Most of the camera lens rental outfits offer it.

Many people want to "try before they buy" especially with the more expensive rigs or they may want to try out FLIR, LiDAR or other sensors and technologies before putting serious cash on the line. Many of our cinema clients just rent a back up kit to have on set in case of issues with the one(s) they own. Most of our customers have a 107 cert and "incidents" are minimal (although they do happen - insurance is available)
