About as far away from anywhere that you can get, at the top left corner of Scotland, lies Durness, and a little further out, right on the corner of the road is Balkaneil.

Home to the Balkaneil Craft village - a collection of artisan's that provide a unique shopping experience at the far reaches of the NC500, it also holds the stunning beaches and ruined Church that are the subject of this video.

They are located on the edge of the Cape Wrath Firing Range, a military range and FRZ, so care needs to be taken to fly either outside the boundary of the FRZ, or to ensure that the range is not active when you want to fly.

I could only fly the AIR3 here as it was extremely windy - hence the drone bouncing around a bit in the 35mph winds - and given it was a fairly grey day the colours are a little muted, but they are true to what was seen, and it is both stunning and desolate...

Another awesome video! You rarely see grave stones like that here.

Thank you, the site was so untouched and ancient, the church dates back to pre 1600's, sad to see it so ruinous, but it makes for a beautiful and peaceful spot - the sort of place eternity would never be long enough to gaze at the view...

Nice video. Seems like a pretty bleak existence at the time when the church was active. In an old graveyard like that, it’s always interesting to see dates and names, and wonder how did they live, what did they do?
Thanks for another great video, Suzanne.IMG_5330.jpeg

Thanks... we did take a look at the graves, many were of folks that lived to very good ages, 78+ to 105, which given the harsh lives is surprising - perhaps softer living isn't as good for us as a bit of effort... There was a ver early grave marker inside the church, but I can't find the pic atm...
Always useful to think about those who came before, how their lives were lived and how we would compare, I think in many ways we have lost something in our modern world...

Beautiful scenes. I would suggest that you slow down the orbit around the church. It's lovely, but the speed was a bit dizzying. Music was very nice.
Thanks...yeah, I wouldn't normally go so quick, but it was the only way to keep the drone stable in the 35mph winds... if you look you can see it traverses one side much faster than the other..
