The CAA is following up it's previous call for input with another one more specifically targetting at Class Markings and regulatory changes. It's the same format; a consultation document (PDF) and the online feedback form. Key objectives of this one seem to be mostly aimed at hobbyists and include:
  1. Simplifying regulation
  2. Increasing education & understanding
  3. Product safety & security
  4. Safe & secure airpsace
  5. Supporting the UAS sector
Some good objectives for hobbyists in there, IMHO, but I can see how some operators might not be too happy depending on what/where/how they fly as well, especially for <250g owners.

It also looks like they're pressing ahead with the idea for a UK-specific class-marking scheme rather than trying to fudge their way back into somehow using EU markings within the framework of the post-Brexit regulatory changes and departure from EASA. Good luck with getting vendors and certification bodies onboard with that, is all I can say! (c.f. Apple deciding it was easier to globally go with USB-C rather than persist with Lightning connectors outside the EU and how that might affect vendors if the UK has unique requirements).
