Note: this is NOT about Downloading Offline Maps. That is a different subject.
I am trying to understand more about caching maps on the RC2 controller. I received a new RC2, on the map screen without internet, there were no “detailed” maps available. By detailed, I mean a map, that when zoomed in, would show individual streets and houses in a town. The supplied map only showed major highways and large waterways etc.
I found that when logged into the internet, I could go to the map screen, center over a small town, zoom in and out a couple of times, and the detailed map would be loaded onto the controller. In a large city it was not possible to load the entire city. After that downloading, when out flying without the internet, the detail map was available.
I guess my questions are:
Is this a “real” DJI thing?
If so, where is it described or documented by DJI or by others?
Where are the Cached maps stored?
Is there a size limit for each download?
How many can be downloaded?
Can they be deleted?
Do others use this method for detailed maps?
Thank you for any comments from this vey helpful forum.
