Camera cable

I just have a question:
I just replaced the gimbal flex on my MP. Lovely experience, something along the lines of walking on hot coals.
I was wondering why the camera cable is such a loose braid. It just seems strange and I had to resist the impulse to slip a piece of shrink wrap over it.
Why is the camera cable such a loose braid?

So as not to interfer mechanically with the delicate gimbal motors whilst stabilizing the camera.
