Can't seem to calibrate. iPad mini 5

I don't think the AC orientation indicator is working with Apple devices, mine works on the Ipad mini 4 cellular but it's not accurate and a waste of time trying to sort out.
The map drone orientation arrow is more accurate from my experience with DJI Fly

You could try installing a 3rd party compass app into the mini and see if that helps .. other than that no idea

Activating the SIM card has nothing to do with it. My own iPad mini5 has no cellular service.

Try going outside and letting the iPad acquire GPS. The photos appear to show your iPad indoors.

Wifi only iPads lack GPS but they do have a compass

As I understand it, the directional indicator at the bottom of the screen requires the GPS location of the *controller* as well as the GPS location of the drone - not just a compass bearing at the controller.

It should be using the recorded home point
