Is there a legal process for applying to fly a drone in the U.S. National Parks?

And if so, has anyone done this?

Yes there is a process. You go to the National Park Service website, complete an application for Special Use and submit it to their office.

Keep in mind, that request is sent off to the visitor and resource protection dept. The Associate Director then needs to review the application.

I suspect unless you have several thousands of dollars to pay fees and probably a million in liability coverage, it's probably not going to be granted.
