Disconnecting issues

OK, guys, new here. I've been shooting photos with my Mavic Pro2 pretty frequently lately. In the last three days, every time I go out with the drone, I get disconnects during flight. Yesterday, it took on a mind of it's own and almost caused a catastrophic crash into a river. I read a bit on line and some suggestions were to check the cable (did it) and during the disconnect, restart the app. SO I was out today and the drone was about 100 yards away and again, it disconnects, the screen goes black and white and nothing/No connection. I rebooted the app, nothing, I rebooted again and check the cable, nothing. I went as far as turning off and back on the controller and nothing. Fortunately, the drone returned to home on it's own. I've sent DJI an email but no response yet. My operations are grounded until I find a fix. Thanks for any help.

Its your Cable between yr Phone and yr Controller.
Maybe Buy a New One... (Check that its Not Loose in either socket) -

This happens regularly - especially with the New LONG adapter Plug that DJI provides -
… If it happens in Flight Just centre Joysticks -
Check the Cable - ...
If Necessary Physically STOP yr DJI app nd restart it in your PHONE Settings … - It will reconnect -
Also Shut DOwn Unnecessary other Programs which May be Hogging Memory -
… but that message comes up - when theres a Disconnect of the Phone -

BTW You should Have Full Remote control !

(Still Cannot figure out why WIFI is not used on android - instead of that pesky Cable)

I may have to buy a new one. I've been using the provided USB type C. I jiggled the cable trying to get it to reconnect but nothing. I rebooted the App too today and nothing. I was panicking until I heard it buzzing towards home. Thank goodness for the return to home idea.

You said "I rebooted the App too today and nothing"

If it doesn't reconnect when you RESET your cable... then ...
>>> You physically got to go into Phone Settings >> Apps >>> DJI >> Force STOP !

Then Reload

… also NOTE that a disconnect from the Phone - doesn't mean a Disconnect from your Controller.
Just to verify … (it should be hovering somewhere)
In most cases if its Out of Sight - Just Climb straight Up and see if the RC controller telemetry changes in altitude...
If It does … but yr Nervous, then hit the retun to home - Knowing you can Cancel the RTH by rehitting the RTH button - when its in sight -

If yr Drone does not respond to yr control - it will automatically start a RTH -
- but this sounds like a Cable issue -

Hadn't thought of that..Thanks

My controller nor my phone was working it was like everything stopped. Yesterday it was a mere 10 yards from me and just stopped, then took off on it's own. Fortunately didn't go far and stopped again. The sticks weren't doing anything. I was in panic mode.

I remember having those exact type of issues before switching over to an IOS device.. I’ll, have to be honest with you.. I don’t miss them.. Good luck

If the "sticks weren't doing anything" then I doubt that it is a phone or cable issue. Even if you unplug your cable you should still be able to control it with the RC. Are your antennas positioned correctly, have 10 or more satellites, and verify an accurate homepoint set before launch?

There could also be strong wireless interference where you are flying. Does this happen at other sites?

I saw an instance where a smart watch was causing interference.

What was displayed on the RC when this all happened?

In case this is an RC communication issue, try rebinding the RC to the AC.

Antennas were upright, I always wait for a homepoint update before flight (which has saved me twice thus far) and all three times, it was way out in the sticks.

The top left corner gave me an error message and then said, disconnected, then the screen went black and white. After that rebooting the app nor rebooting the controller worked. I was saved by the return to home thing...I ordered two different cables off of amazon, we'll see if that makes any difference. I'll try airplane mode too like PortCanaveralFlorid suggested.

On another note, DJI responded to my query.
Despite telling them that I rebooted the app several times, rebooted the controller (both during flight), despite telling them I checked my cable connection several times, they sent me the standard response with suggestions that I do all of the above. They did add that If those things don't work, fill out an repair request to get a shipping label. My brother sent his in for repair (for the Original Mavic), it took three weeks and he got the same remote back with nothing done to it. I'm gonna try new cables first with my phone in airplane mode to see if this remedies the issue.

I read somewhere - that Plugging your Phone into a) the Left side of the RC controller and ALTERNATIVELY b) using the Main USB connection at the bottom center - Has different outcomes on different Phones-

TRY Alternating from a) to b) or Vice versa

I have a cable for that. I'll give it a try

If you use the USB-A connector in the bottom of the controller, remember to unplug the short DJI supplied cable from the side port. The controller won't recognise the connection unless the side port is open ...
