Recalibrating is not needed after firmware updates.
It's rarely ever needed at all.

I know, I know...no need to re-calibrate my M3 after firmware upgrade, but being super ?****, I did a full calibration of compass, and IMU. It only took a minutes and it can't hurt, right?

It's always better to understand what recalibrating does (and doesn't do) and when it's needed, than to use it as a superstitious ritual.
A firmware update does nothing at all that has any effect on your IMU or compass calibration.

It can hurt.
If it ain't broke, don't go "fixin'" it."
You can break it!
Factory calibrations done in a controlled environment are far more precise than a user calibrations in an uncontrolled environment!
Same with unneeded compass calibrations in an unknown environment!
