I’ll tell you where I’ve been hiding. It’s called reality.

Move to the UK plenty of room to fly and guns are mainly owned by farmers so no need to worry about gun laws here.
Also Donald has only hit us with a 10% tariff here.
I uh, think you missed the whole point. I am highly suspect of most gun laws, especially ones like the UK have that disarm legitimate citizens.

I am highly suspicious of anyone who thinks allowing citizens to be armed just because they can be is a better option than not, you can own a gun here but you have to have a very good reason, "because everyone else is allowed one" doesn't wash here and rightfully so.

In america in 2023, 16,651 people were murdered by guns in the United States. This number is part of a larger total of 42,654 deaths from gun violence that year.
In England and Wales, firearm homicides are relatively rare, accounting for a small percentage of overall homicides each year. In 2023/24, there were 22 homicide offenses involving firearms, representing a decrease from the 29 reported the previous year

First off, thanks for denigrating the home of over 350 million people by refusing to capitalize the name of their country.

The sentence you posted is misleading and inaccurate (no pun intended). How many among those 42,654 deaths were cases of self-defense? How many were by police officers doing their job? How many were accidents? How many were suicides? While you may wish to live as subjects, ie, sheeple to your government, I prefer that I retain my right to protect myself and those around me and that my government fear me instead of the other way around. And my forefathers felt so strongly about those very items that they made it a right by way of our constitution. Here's a tidbit for your edification: Did you know that during WWII, England was afraid of invasion and asked America for help. In response, Americans send thousands of their own firearms over for England's home guard, asking nothing in return. Speaking of return, do you know how many of those weapons were returned? ZERO.

Have you missed the part of the war in Ukraine? Did you know that was happening?

Drone warfare is real. To think that the “elephant in the room” in regards to a possible Chinese drone ban is crony corporatism is ludicrous.

Ok, Skydio testifies. Where is the money? Where is the product that Skydio is wanting to sell us but they can not because of cost? Where is the comparative drone they are offering?

Maybe, just maybe, there is an another reason than crony corporatism.

Edit. Do you really think that Skydio has the financial backing to successfully lobby US Congress into banning all Chinese (esp DJI) drones? Skydio with 1/15th the valuation of DJI. And that DJI can not do the same?

I didn't refuse, it was a typo ;)

I wondered how long it would be before you spouted that old chestnut, knife crime is becoming a big problem in our country when asked why these teenagers are carrying knives they all say the same It's to protect themselves, we are trying to stop them carrying knives to stop these pointless deaths using your analogy it would be better if our government told everyone to carry a knife just in case.

What are you protecting yourself from, oh that'll be the other guy with a gun! (see the pattern here)

While you may wish to live as subjects, ie, sheeple to your government,

In the last ten years, there have been 14 mass shootings in the U.K. your total is 5,279 and 97 already for this year alone, i am glad we are not allowed to own guns here without a very good reason and the feeling you need to "protect yourself" is not one, i think you will find the logic behind that reason proves who the sheeple really are ;)

??? Sorry, I can't see the relevance ... you've lost me there.

Did you watch the second video?
It demonstrates how effective Skydio's lobbying has been.

What Skydio can do that DJI can't, is appeal to the patriotic congress crazies.

Actually, it would be to protect myself from just about anyone. At 75, I am no longer the bad boy I used to be and am considered an easy target by many lowlifes. As to "old chestnut" of my right to defend myself, being old doesn't make it wrong. During my working career, I represented over 125,000 people, not all of whom were happy. Some went so far as to offer to end my life, rather viciously. If my life is suddenly threatened, I have much more faith in 9mm than I do 911. How many wealthy people in England have access to armed security? Why is their life any more important than yours? In my case, I am my own armed security and shall remain so until I pass on.

I also noted you ignored the rest of my message. Nevertheless, after England outlaws' knives, then baseball bats, forks, spoons, slingshots, screwdrivers, letter openers, scissors pencils (que John Wick) and pens, I want to watch you eating your yogurt with your fingers.

The problem in America isn't the guns, it's the fact that society here (as is the case in GB and other places as well) are raising kids that do not respect others or their property and have little if any values. Removing guns isn't removing the cause, it's simply treating the symptom instead of the problem. Like giving someone with a headache an aspirin when in fact they have brain cancer.

Why are you so paranoid about being attacked, is this the norm in America you dare not leave the house without your gun "just In case" someone attacks you?

What has wealthy people having armed security got to so with anything, not that i know of any that do.

We are discussing your view that the UK people are somehow being put in danger by our government because they won't let us carry weapons, you won't find many people here who would want to carry weapons the stats below from my earlier post show the dangers of letting people own guns 14 deaths in 10 years here compared to 5,279 in America and that's just the stats from mass shootings the true figure must be hundreds of thousands

You couldn't make this up, are you trying to tell us gun crime is only a recent problem, and it's due to families not bringing their kids up properly but back in the day when kids were brought up to respect their fellow Americans gun crime wasn't an issue?
As it says below - in 1993 the figure was 8.4 firearm homicides per 100,000 persons which dipped to 4.0 per 100,000 by 2014 it had risen to 7.3 per 100,000 by 2021 but that's still less than in 1993!
This would suggest using your analogy that kids in the 90's had as little respect for their fellow Americans as kids today, but after the turn of the century you all showed more respect for one another for some reason and over the next 14 years decided not to attack each other as often.

Highlights

  • The rate of nonfatal firearm violence for persons age 12 or older declined 72% from 1993 to 2023, dropping from 7.3 to 2.0 victimizations per 1,000 persons, and varied from 1.2 to 2.3 per 1,000 during 2019 to 2023.
  • About 64% of nonfatal firearm violence was reported to police during 2018–2022.
  • The firearm homicide rate among persons age 12 or older fluctuated between 1993 and 2023, with a decline from 1993 to 2014 (from 8.4 to 4.0 homicides per 100,000 persons age 12 or older) before rising to 7.3 per 100,000 in 2021.
  • From 2018 to 2022, on average, 80% of homicides were committed with a firearm.
