Dumb n00b question.

Does my phone or tablet need an internet connection when attached to the controller? I use a spare phone without a sim card because I simply hate taking off the case on my main phone to attach it to the controller. No issues so far but I don't want to make an epic mistake. Thanks in advance.

Internet isn't critical. It's only used to cache maps, unlock geo zones and to live stream. The first 2 can be done in advance.

As @Cyberpower678 has stated, internet connection is not needed to fly. With that said, I would not recommend using too old of a phone.
