Re dji mavic air 2 , is there a way to factory reset drone and controller, due to this gimbo error that prevents me from flying. I've tried reinstall of all firmware drone and controller and I still have same issue ,this drone has never had a crash but was stored for over a year . Worked great before storage.

This is what I found, hopefully it helps

Plug the drone into your computer.
Start the assistant 2 software'
Select "Firmware update"
Select "restore factory Defaults"
FROM THE APP
Power on your equip.
Launch the app.
Go to Settings
Select system
Choose reset options
Select "Erase all Data" ---Follow the prompts.

It's no longer on the software assistant 2 . Is there another way?

Try the original DJI Assistant, that one was hackable: a simple change of parameters and you had full access to the developer console. It also featured the famous 'reset to factory defaults' button. A quick search online will throw up the breadcrumb trail so that you can find it.

Sometimes ChatGPT does well with tasks like this. I did not go to any of the links to see if it was available.

What Was the Original DJI Assistant?

  • This tool was used for older DJI product lines—primarily the A2 flight controller, Ronin gimbals, and early-generation cameras/drones.
  • Officially superseded by DJI Assistant 2, but versions like 1.1.2 and 1.1.31 are still floating around—often on third-party hosts. mavicpilots.com+15dji-assistant.updatestar.com+15youtube.com+15

🔍 Where to Download It

1. Non‑official / Third-party Listings

  • Sites like UpdateStar list it (e.g., DJI Assistant 1.1.31). They claim features like real-time parameter tuning for A2/Ronin M/Etc. dji-assistant.updatestar.com+1apps.apple.com+1
    • ⚠️ Note: These are unofficial downloads—use caution, verify checksums, and scan for malware.
  • Drone forums & archives occasionally share direct download links. For example, a forum dedicated to Mavic users includes an archive of DJI Assistant 1.1.2, 2.0.0, 2.0.2, etc., linking out to MavicHelp.com.mavicpilots.comfunnyinterestingcool.com
    • MavicHelp’s Software Archive is frequently cited as reliable by DJI enthusiasts.

2. Insider Tips via Forums

  • On MavicPilots, a DJI expert confirms active links for v1.1.2 were shared years ago and known to work.dji.com+9mavicpilots.com+9funnyinterestingcool.com+9
    • Though no direct download is posted now, users suggest searching “MavicHelp DJI SoftwareArchive” to locate the installer.

✅ Recommendations & Next Steps

  1. Search for “MavicHelp DJI Software Archive”—this tends to lead to a trusted GitHub or webpage collection of old DJI installer packages.
  2. If you find .exe or .dmg labeled v1.1.2 or v1.1.31, download it using virus detection software before installing.
  3. Install with:
    • Windows: right-click → Run as Administrator.
    • macOS: use caution—older apps might not run on Big Sur or later without tweaking.
