Fascinating video on the insides of the Mini 5

I watched the whole video and can see a lot of spots that could be "modified" to make this a real sub 249.9 drone.

So the speaker to play the tune on startup weighs 1.84g plus glue. When you see how much they’ve cut weight elsewhere it’s just bonkers!

The speaker is also used to create noise to help locate the drone after a crash.
However, it could certainly be made smaller and lighter!

The bit that’s bonkers is the lengths that DJI have gone to lightening everything else and then they throw away the weight margin they’ve gained by using 1.8g for a speaker. They even screw the thing in place using 2 screws when a clip and 1 screw would have done or even a drop of glue. I know we are only talking of 0.1g but in the weight saving game they all count, hence using foil for heat sinks and plastic for ducts.

Without a speaker, I wouldn't have recovered my Mini 4
On it's first flight, I lost it in a tree and it couldn't be seen except from a very specific spot.
I could hear it which caused a bystander to look into the tree from that one spot.

It still needs a properly connected battery that hasn’t yet died to power the speaker and receive the command, and it needs to still be within the control of the RC, but it is certainly helpful when stuck hidden in a tree or bushes where the battery did not eject.

Not saying the speaker isn’t useful, just that there are more weight efficient speakers and other things that could have been removed, eg the stickers covering both the rear leg hinges and some lower case screws. They aren’t used on the underweight mini 4 pro, why on the overweight mini 5 pro?

Indeed! Surely they could have found some way to get the little guy to drop 4g so he can reach his maximum fighting weight! LOL!
