First flight with the wide angle lens. I knew it wouldn't let me shoot a pano with the wide angle but I was surprised that it also disabled shooting panos with the 70mm lens. I get disabling with the wide angle as blending with the distortion of the wide angle would be tough but since the 70mm is unchanged it would be nice if the firmware was updated to allow it to continue to shoot panos with the wide angle lens attached.

I don’t know if DJI reps actively lurk in this forum. I suggest you go to the DJI website and open up a chat and ask for a human being. Once the human rep comes on, just tell him/her about this feature request. That way you can be sure it will be written down at least somewhere at DJI.

Wide angle lens is on my Christmas list

I thought you could shoot panos with either camera.

The Free Panorama feature doesn't work with either camera?

You can.

DJI makes an accessory called the wide angle lens which changes the field of view of the main camera from effectively a 24mm to about a 14mm, it doesn't change the FOV of the '70mm' at all. When you mount the adapter it disables shooting panoramic with either camera. For the 14mm it makes sense since there is more distortion (horizon curves if not level) and it would make blending difficult. As the 70mm is unchanged it doesn't make sense to disable panoramics on it.

Ah thanks.

I thought people referred to the main camera as wide angle since it's 24 mm equivalent.

Yeah, DJI probably could have given the accessory a little less confusing name since they call the 1" camera a wide angle camera and the accessory a wide angle lens.

It disables the auto-pano function of the camera. You can still shoot manual panos, which is what I do typically anyway.

In case anyone was curious about the difference in perspective between the 24mm and with the wide angle lens adapter installed.

Both taken at the same altitude of 400'.

I am surprised of the quality of the adapter, it looks better than I would expect. Usually these add-on lenses degrade image quality, but apart from some blur in the extreme corners it looks quite good.
(PS: The perspective is the same in these photos, it is the field of view that is changed. You change perspective when you move the camera to another position.)
