Mini Golden Gate (Porta Aurea)

Golden Gate is the most impressive gate of the Theodosian Walls. Dating back to 5th century.It’s believed that it was built by the Theodosius II. who also built the land walls.
Acted as a ceremonial gate for the Roman Emperors coming from Thrace to enter the city. Today, Golden Gate is like part of the Yedikule (Ottoman) Fortress.
